The Nigerian Senate is currently locked in a closed door session with some heads of security agencies over proliferation of fire arms and rising criminal activities across the country.

The security heads, who were ushered into the Senate Chamber at exactly 12:25pm on Wednesday, were led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Abayomi Olonisakin.

Also present at the meeting was the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, while the police was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, (Operations), Mr. Habila Joshak.Recall that the Senate, a fortnight ago, resolved to summon the heads of security agencies following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi (APC, Kaduna North).

However, the National Security Adviser, General Babagana Monguno (rtd), and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr Ibrahim Kpotum Idris, who were listed among the invited chiefs, did not turn up.
